Bornean Black-banded Squirrel Callosiurus orestes feeding on surface bark next to the Balsam Restaurant at Kinabalu Park HQ.
C. orestes is the most common tree squirrel of the 7 species that have been recorded from the forest surrounding Kinabalu Park HQ.
Note that the squirrel is mainly feeding on small flakes or “biscuits” of surface bark and in doing so does not damage the tree.
