Once abundant in lowland forests, the Large Flying Fox  Pteropus  vampyrus has now vanished from large parts of Borneo.

The reason is mainly due to  hunting for food but Flying Foxes are also regarded as a pest by fruit farmers.

Ba Kelalan adjoins the Pulong Tau National Park.  Pulong Tau includes Gunung Murud, (2423 m), Borneo’s second highest mountain after Kinabalu.
