Small-clawed Otters Aonyx cinerea using their “hands” to search for fish and prawns in a muddy bank of the Kinabatangan river at Kuala Abai in Sabah. All photos by Mike Gordon.

Unlike the other 3 species of otters which occur in Borneo which use their mouths to snatch at fish, the Small-clawed Otter used its hands to search for fish, prawns and clams under the water which are then carried to the mouth.
